Description

The main aim of this course is to help pupils acquire concepts comprehensively as well as develop their reasoning skills. All the activities use familiar, easily accessible exercise types to facilitate the learning process for pupils with elementary reading skills. Part 3B includes the following chapters:

Chapter 1

The first chapter introduces multiplication in columns.

Chapter 2

In the second chapter pupils acquaint themselves with fractions and decimals, and their connection. With plane shapes and number lines the book offers practice in recognition, reading and notation of fractions and decimals.

Chapter 3

In the third chapter the number field is extended to four-digit numbers. The chapter offers practice in number line skills, number names, written numerals and ordering. Addition and subtraction of four-digit numbers in columns are also reviewed in this chapter.

Chapter 4

The fourth chapter deals with measuring. Pupils practise times on the 24-hour clock using both analogue and digital displays, and revise units of time. The chapter also includes practical activities for estimating lengths and weights, and introduces the relationship between kilogram and gram.

Chapter 5

Chapter five can be used in a variety of ways, as no new topics are introduced. The chapter provides revision exercises, practice in extracting information from texts, pictures and charts, as well as verbal problem-solving tasks.
